Each leaf has a metallic silver sheen on the upper surface and rich purple underneath. It trails beautifully from hanging baskets or shelves and can be propagated endlessly from cuttings.

When stems get leggy, don't just trim — take those cuttings and push them back into the same pot. Within weeks you'll have a much fuller, bushier plant.

If you just received a cutting or node: Tradescantia is one of the easiest plants to root. Drop cuttings directly into a glass of water in bright indirect light. Roots appear in 7–14 days. You can also push cuttings straight into moist potting mix — they root in soil just as easily. Once rooted in water, pot up and water thoroughly. These plants are forgiving and fast — you'll see new growth within weeks.
